The first ever Los Muertos con Queso destination event took place at the Barcelo Maya between January 25 – 28 featuring The String Cheese Incident, Jackie Greene, Chris Robinson Brotherhood and a band that saw Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead joined by Jeff Chimenti, Tom Hamilton and Dave Schools. Video from the event has started to appear on YouTube including a handful of full sets.

Los Muertos con Queso marked the debut of Billy and Bobby’s newest project. The band played a total of six sets, though Weir was out of action for two of them as he battled food poisoning. We start where the event ended with video of Bobby, Billy, Schools, Tommy and Jeff from the final night of Los Muertos, January 28. In this first chunk captured by G. Couris we see the band work through “Playing In The Band,” “Terrapin Station” and a “New Speedway Boogie” featuring Jackie Greene:

The second chunk of January 28th’s first set shared by G. Couris includes “Mission In The Rain,” “Brown Eyed Women,” “My Brother Esau,” “Black-Throated Wind,” “Let It Grow” and “Playing In The Band Reprise”:

For the Weir/Kreutzmann band’s final set of the event, they treated fans to “Help/Slip,” “Lost Sailor/Saint Of Circumstance,” a “Dark Star” split by “Drums” featuring Jason Hann and Michael Travis as well as “Not Fade Away.” The group said farewell with a “Brokedown Palace” encore. Watch footage of the entire set captured by Mike Cerneant:

On January 26 Billy, Schools, Tommy and Jeff went on without Bobby due to food poisoning. The group was joined by a bevy of guests as Jackie Greene filled Weir’s role and Kyle Hollingsworth, Jason Hann, Michael Travis as well as Adam MacDougall sat-in. While the full show video below is hampered by wind, it’s worth it for a most interesting evening of music.
