Watch Oteil Burbridge Chat With Paul Simon ‘Graceland’ Bassist Bakithi Kumalo

Not only is Oteil Burbridge of Dead & Company an incredibly talented bassist, he’s also a skilled interviewer. Oteil has been adding videos to his official YouTube channel including some that find him chatting up other bass legends. This morning, Burbridge shared a video featuring an interview with Bakithi Kumalo of Paul Simon’s Graceland band.

Oteil’s chat with Bakithi took place at Wanee ’13, where Kumalo was on hand with the Tedeschi Trucks Band. The legendary African musician was one of the bassists the TTB called upon to fill Burbridge’s shoes before settling in on current low ender Tim Lefebre. Bakithi talks about how he was recruited to Paul Simon’s band, preparing for his role with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and many other topics. Take a look:
