Watch Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s Guest-Filled Lockn’ Sets

By Scott Bernstein Aug 31, 2017 9:16 am PDT

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead embraced the collaborative spirit of the Lockn’ Festival by inviting guests for each of their late-night sets this past Friday and Saturday nights in Arrington, Virginia. The five-piece was joined by My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and vocalist Nicole Atkins on Friday, while Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir sat-in on Saturday. Full show video of both the JimJRAD and BobRAD sets have surfaced.

On Friday, the Grateful Dead tribute act began by stringing together “Shakedown Street,” “Gonesville,” “Uncle John’s Band” and “The Other One.” Atkins then came out for the Joe Russo’s Almost Dead debut of “Little Red Roster.” The quintet then presented a full “Terrapin Station Suite” ahead of “Truckin'” and a “Cassidy” featuring a “Mountain Jam” excursion. From there, JRAD played “Help On The Way” into “Slipknot!” before bringing out Jim James for a debut cover of “Been Caught Stealing” by Jane’s Addiction. James stuck around to lead “Brown Eyed Women” and dueted with Atkins on the “Brokedown Palace” encore. Head here for a full report on Friday night’s JRAD set.
