Yesterday, over 250 Recording Academy members from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C. for the Grammys On The Hill concert/summit at The Hamilton. The concert portion of the evening included performances from Jim Lauderdale, the Zac Brown Band, Collective Soul’s Ed Roland and Warren Haynes. Warren’s time on stage included a cover of “The Weight” by The Band in which he was joined by nearly 50 members of Congress from Nancy Pelosi to Steny Hoyer according to an extensive report from WTOP.
The main aim of Grammys On The Hill was to reform music licensing. “Our plan is to drive home a simple message: Regardless of changes in delivery platforms, music is a valuable commodity whose creators deserve fair compensation,” said Daryl Friedman Chief Industry Government and Member Relations Officer for The Recording Academy.
