Warren Haynes & Grace Potter Team For Collaborative Set At Peach Festival

Old friends Warren Haynes and Grace Potter paired for a collaborative set on Sunday afternoon at The Peach Music Festival. Haynes and Potter mixed material of their own with choice covers at Montage Mountain’s Peach Stage in Scranton, Pennsylvania and were joined by saxophonist Ron Holloway for the grand finale.

Warren started on electric guitar with Grace on organ for a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman.” Then, Grace picked up an acoustic guitar as the duo used CSNY’s “Find The Cost Of Freedom” as an intro to Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home.” Potter noted the set was one of her first in a long time and that she couldn’t be happier to share the stage with Waynes. He seconded the emotion before Grace backed Warren on “Is It Me Or You” from 2015’s Ashes & Dust. The pair then reversed roles for Potter’s “Stars.”

The Etta James-popularized “I’d Rather Go Blind” featured Grace on organ and the duo trading verses. A stirring rendition of Bob Dylan & The Band’s “I Shall Be Released” came next ahead of originals “Captured” (Haynes) and “Shout It Out” (Potter). The latter was a debut. Grace went back behind the keys for a riveting take on Led Zeppelin’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You.” Finally, Ron Holloway – who had travel issues and wasn’t sure whether he was going to make it in time for his guest appearance – added to the “Soulshine” that closed out the set.
