The “director’s cut” featuring Jefferson Waful lighting “Der Bluten Kat” for Umphrey’s McGee at The Capitol Theatre in October has surfaced complete with the Lighting Director’s commentary as hosted by Luke Stratton. Watch the video below.

Umphrey’s McGee Lighting Designer Jefferson Waful will soon celebrate his 10th anniversary working for the veteran jam act. Waful has a keen eye for symmetry and the way his lighting designs envelop the stage and venue is unparalleled. Back in October, videographer MKDevo captured a fantastic example of Jefferson at work. Stay tuned for a “director’s cut” featuring commentary from Waful similar to a previous installment focusing on Dopapod’s Luke Stratton. (UPDATE: The “Director’s Cut” is live and can be viewed below)

MKDevo set up one camera to film Waful as he “played” his console during Umphrey’s McGee’s performance of “Der Bluten Kat” at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on October 21. A second camera focused on the band on stage. The result is a 4K Picture in Picture video, which gives fans a real feel for how Jefferson Waful does his job.
