8 p.m. The Shut-Ups

9 p.m. David Barbe David Barbe Plus

David Barbe Plus is the current musical outlet for an Athens musician sometimes referred to as having the widest involvement of any single figure in the Athens, GA music scene. David Barbe has appeared on over 400 albums as producer, engineer, or musician, frequently working at his Athens studio, Chase Park Transduction. At various times he has made music either live or in the studio with hundreds of artists including Sugar, Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers, Kevn Kinney, The Glands, Son Volt, Cracker, Ill Ease, Bloodkin, Stef Chura, Bettye LaVette, Booker T. Jones, Lee Bains, Olivia Tremor Control, Mercyland, Bar-B-Q Killers, and Harvey Milk to name a few. Barbe’s most recent release 10th of Seas (Orange Twin) was released to high critical praise. For AthFest 2024, the Plus lineup is David Barbe guitar, vocals; Doug Stanley (The Glands) bass, McKendrick Bearden (Grand Vapids, Hefner) drums and Graham Powers guitar.

10 p.m. Armistead’s Armi

Armistead’s Armi is the new side project from Armistead Wellford best known as co-founder of legendary Athens band Love Tractor. For the band’s Athens debut performance, he’ll be joined by Andrew Carter (Love Tractor), Doug Stanley and Joe Rowe (The Glands) with a number of special guests, including but not limited to, Bryan Poole (Elf Power), Dana Downs (The Tone-Tones), David Barbe, “Leroy” and Owen Lange. Their new single, “Turbulence of Love,” written by Wellford, Fred Schneider and Mark Cline is available as a digital download.

11 p.m. Sneakers

A revival of legendary North Carolina band Sneakers featuring Chris Stamey, Mitch Easter, Gene Holder and Will Rigby. New album available via Car Records.
