This weekend Joe Russo’s Almost Dead makes their first visit to Colorado, where the Grateful Dead tribute act played before a capacity crowd at The Boulder Theater in Boulder on Friday night and are set to perform at The Ogden Theatre in Denver tonight. The big news from last night’s show was the JRAD debut of an unreal seven Grateful Dead classics.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, which features Russo on drums joined by Marco Benevento on keyboards, Tom Hamilton and Scott Metzger on guitar and vocals and Dave Dreiwitz on bass, kicked off the show with the JRAD debut of “The Golden Road.” Hamilton sang “The Golden Road” as he did the band’s first performances of “Crazy Fingers,” “He’s Gone” and “Sugaree” later in the set. Metzger handled vocals on the group’s “Loser” debut. The second set included the long-awaited JRAD debut of “Dark Star” and also saw the group’s first rendition of the instrumental “King Solomon’s Marbles.” For the encore, the quintet debuted their version of “Ripple.”

The band has shown dedication to spreading recordings of their shows far and wide, so we look forward to hearing a soundboard from last night. In the mean time, a FOB audience recording (in 24-bit format) has just been posted on bt.etree.org. We’ve compiled the fan-shot videos from Boulder that have surfaced thus far:
