Saturday night U2 performed at Madison Square Garden as part of their iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour. The first night of their eight-night run at MSG saw the band bust out “October” for the first time since 1989.

The title track to their 1981 album October reportedly has not been performed live by the Irish band since November 1989. Mid-way through the opening night at The Garden, Bono alongside The Edge playing upright piano delivered a somber rendition of the rarity.
