Video | Phil Lesh Hints At Performing With Weir Next Summer

By Scott Bernstein Nov 18, 2013 1:50 pm PST

Last Monday bassist Phil Lesh sat for a 30-minute interview conducted by Philadelphia radio DJ Pierre Robert. Lesh discussed many topics over the course of the half-hour and piqued our interest when he was asked about the future of Furthur. “Bobby (Weir) and I will probably do something this summer, but it won’t be Furthur,” said Phil. (27-minute mark)

Robert followed up his Furthur question by asking about the potential for a The Dead reunion to which Lesh responded, “I have no idea.” Is he playing coy? We shall see. Phil also discusses the Phil & Friends’ fall tour lineup, his Terrapin Crossroads venue, his liver transplant, meeting President Barack Obama, performing with Bob Dylan and much more. When Lesh talked about his exclusive agreement with Peter Shapiro to play shows at the impresario’s venues in 2014, he mentioned that the London outpost of Brooklyn Bowl was among the rooms in the deal, which wasn’t mentioned in the New York Times article announcing the agreement.

A video of the entire interview was recently posted. Check it out:
