On November 1, Vetiver will issue a new album entitled Up On High via Mama Bird Recording Co. The band masterminded by Andy Cabic unveiled the LP’s lead single, “To Who Knows Where” and announced a series of fall tour dates.

The long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s Complete Strangers features 10 tracks written by Cabic on acoustic guitar. Andy completed the basic tracking of Up On High over the course of a few days in the spring at a house in the California desert with longtime engineer and collaborator Thom Monahan. The pair completed work on the LP at Monahan’s studio in Los Angeles this summer, where “other friends popped by to lend their talents.”

Cabic provided a statement to Flood, who premiered the track, about “To Who Knows Where”:

How do you explain that you’re leaving again? Not even that you want to, but that you have to? Hearing playback of the basics we recorded live for this…bass, drums, acoustic guitar, scratch vocal…proved that this fundamental approach was the core of what would work for these songs, this album. I heard it here first.

Vetiver kicks off a tour of the West Coast at Moe’s in Santa Cruz, California on November 6. Cabic and company then head up the coast for shows in San Francisco, Novato, Portland and Seattle. The tour continues with stops in Boise, Salt Lake City, Fort Collins, Denver and Phoenix before the band heads back to California for performances in Joshua Tree, San Diego and Los Angeles. A tour of the U.K. follows from December 7 – 17.
