Vampire Weekend Covers Neil Young With Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram

By Andy Kahn Aug 21, 2019 7:00 am PDT

Vampire Weekend was joined by Christone “Kingfish” Ingram during their show last night for a cover of Neil Young’s classic “Vampire Blues.” The performance was the first of three Vampire Weekend concerts happening this week at ACL Live At The Moody Theater.

The evening began with an opening set by Kingfish and the blues guitarist’s band. Vampire Weekend was led by frontman Ezra Koenig through a main set made up of several songs from the band’s recent LP, Father Of The Bride alongside a few selections from the group’s other three albums. Koenig brought Ingram back out toward the latter part of Vampire Weekend’s set to lead the cover of Young’s “Vampire Blues,” which apparently was the live debut by the band.

Vampire Weekend plays ACL Live At The Moody Theater again tonight and tomorrow. Thursday’s concert will be recorded for the ACL Live television series and live streamed on YouTube beginning at 8 p.m. CT. Click through frazpoz’s post below for a clip of “Vampire Blues”:
