Umphrey’s McGee Announces ‘Wrapped In The Round’ Livestreams
Umphrey’s McGee will present livestream concert experiences dubbed Wrapped In The Round on September 2 and 3 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The band will perform in the round using Stew Art (S2) themes submitted by fans to guide their improvisations.
“In these times, what more is there to be done with a production warehouse full of gear next to a mountain of sound and lights than turning it into an expansive soundstage and unleash a pair of live streamed eruptions?” said the band in a statement. “UM is elated to present Wrapped In The Round, our next iteration of the virtual concert experience. We loved the intimate, stripped-down nature of our Boondock streams, but we have decided to flip the script this time around. Once again eliminating the traditional stage configuration, UM will be performing in the round, utilizing a myriad of different production techniques with our friends at Tourgigs.”
S2 idea will be put into a bowl band members draw from during each performance. More details including information on purchasing ticket bundles and the chance to submit S2 themes (previous ones included “Afternoon bus ride in Jamaica,” “Barry White love letter” and “Flamenco Metal”) will be revealed next week.
