Umphrey’s McGee Shares ‘Sweet Sunglasses’ Mashup

Umphrey’s McGee will release a new studio album ZONKEY on November 11. The sextet continues to share the original mashup tracks that appear on the record, today issuing the Eurythmics, Corey Hart and MGMT conglomerate “Sweet Sunglasses.”

Composed of parts of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams,” MGMT’s “Electric Feel” and Corey Hart’s “Sunglasses At Night,” UM debuted the mashup on October 31, 2009 at Las Tortugas in Groveland, California. It’s been performed four additional times since, last appearing during the group’s second set at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas on February 12, 2011.

Umphrey’s McGee debuted mashups through several cover and original combinations at the band’s Halloween concert in 2008. They’ve previously shared ZONKEY tracks including “National Loser Anthem” mashing together Radiohead’s “National Anthem,” Beck’s “Loser” and Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight;” “Life During Exodus” which compiles Talking Heads’ “Life During Wartime,” Bob Marley’s “Exodus,” Frank Zappa’s “City Of Tiny Lites” and Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4;” “Can’t Rock My Dream Face” that pulls from Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You,” The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams;” “Sad Clint Eastwood” made up of Metallica’s “Sad But True” and Gorillaz’s “Clint Eastwood;” “Ace Of Long Nights” composed of parts of Motörhead’s “Ace Of Spades” and Ween’s “It’s Gonna Be a Long Night” and “Electric Avenue To Hell” which mixes portions of the band’s “The Triple Wide” with Eddy Grant’s “Electric Avenue” and AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell.”
