Umphrey’s McGee Shares ‘Robot World’ Episode Of ‘Anchor Drops Redux’ Series

Umphrey’s McGee unveiled the “Robot World” installment of their Anchor Drops Redux video series. The series features short documentaries about each song on the band’s 2004 studio album Anchor Drops in celebration of a recent reissue.

Band members Ryan Stasik and Andy Farag each discuss the genesis of the song. Guitarist Jake Cinninger came up with the riff that starts “Robot World” using Moog pedals, while Stasik reveals he wrote large portions of “Robot World” on piano and synthesizer. Ryan was heavily influenced by video games of the ’80s including Rygar. Farag helped by coming up with a beat on a groove box.
