Umphrey’s McGee opened a three-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver on Friday night. Following a support set by Spafford, UM took the stage at the majestic venue and delivered two sets, with the second featuring their debut cover of Pink Floyd’s “Have A Cigar” with Doom Flamingo vocalist Kanika Moore sitting-in.

“Roctopus” opened UM’s first Red Rocks set of 2019, which they followed with the instrumental “#5.” One of only two songs played from last year’s pair of studio releases, “Seasons” came next, with another instrumental, “The Fussy Dutchman” trailing. The set progressed with “Syncopated Strangers” and “Rocker Part 2,” followed by “Red Tape” ending the first half at Red Rocks.

“The Silent Type,” the other song selected from there recent studio LPs, opened the second set. Longtime setlist staple “Ringo” then came ahead of the pairing of “Cemetery Walk” with “Cemetery Walk II.” Bassist Ryan Stasik then welcomed his Doom Flamingo band mate Kanika Moore to join the band onstage for their first live performance of Pink Floyd’s “Have A Cigar.” The set then closed with “Draconian.”

The encore was constructed of “Nemo” with “In The Kitchen” played within. UM returns to Red Rocks tonight, with Turkuaz set to open. A live stream is available via TourGigs.
