Umphrey’s McGee unveiled pro-shot video featuring their “I Don’t Know What I Want” performance from a recent concert in Vail. The 10-minute version came on June 19th within the first set of the sextet’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater debut.
“I Don’t Know What I Want” is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming studio album, Asking For A Friend. The 14-track LP arrives via UM’s Nothing Too Fancy Music imprint this Friday, July 1. “[Asking For A Friend] doesn’t sound like any other album we’ve put out. We still have our feet planted in our old material,” explained keyboardist Joel Cummins. “Every night is a different career-spanning set. But this new music feels like a shot in the arm. People who thought they knew what we were about will be surprised by what they find.”
Umphrey’s McGee’s concert in Vail capped a four-night Colorado run that started in Dillon and continued with two shows at Red Rocks. “I Don’t Know I Want” flowed out of “Prowler” following the opening pairing of “Le Blitz” and “Remind Me.” Penned by guitarist Brendan Bayliss, “I Don’t Know What I Want” birthed an anthemic jam filled with impressive interplay between Bayliss, Cummins and Jake Cinninger.
