Umphrey’s McGee busted out Jimi Hendrix and The Who covers during their show last night at Avondale Brewing Co. in Birmingham, Alabama. The pair of classic rock tunes appeared during the evening’s second set.
The first bust out came in the middle of “Hangover” as the band effortlessly transitioned from their original’s groove into Hendrix’s “Who Knows,” leaving it incomplete before segueing back to finish “Hangover.” UM’s last “Who Knows” performance was on August 14, 2015. Later in the second set, Umphrey’s broke out The Who’s “Eminence Front” for the first time since August 30, 2018. The second set started and ended with a split “All In Time” and also saw an extended “Hurt Bird Bath,” as well as “Conduit” and “Upward.”
Set one on Thursday began with “In The Black,” followed by a lengthy “Turn And Dub.” UM then started “Mantis,” then turned to “2nd Self,” “Similar Skin” and “Got Your Milk (Right Here)” before closing the set with the ending of “Mantis.” The night was capped with a “Remind Me” encore.
