Umphrey’s McGee shared official video featuring the “Hanging Chads” that opened the band’s encore on Saturday night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Bassist Ryan Stasik emerged to begin the song on acoustic guitar and vocals before Brendan Bayliss came out to take the axe from Stasik. Brendan smashed the guitar while Ryan stopped singing and destroyed another acoustic guitar that was on stage.

“Hanging Chads” was debuted by Umphrey’s McGee at The Canopy Club in Urbana, Illinois on October 18, 2018. The second and only other version of the song took place at the Georgia Theatre in Athens on October 19, 2019.

Stasik explained in Athens that he wrote “Hanging Chads” about UM tour manager Bobby Haight. The rendition that followed on October 19, 2019 stands as the lone full-band performance of the song.

Umphrey’s McGee resumes their tour this Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26 at Apple Valley Park in Lafayette, New York. Then, on Sunday, June 27 the band makes their debut at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York. A livestream featuring Sunday’s “Rambling On” concert is available for purchase through Mandolin.
