Umphrey’s McGee announced the drummers that will replace Kris Myers for the remainder of the band’s 2025 tour dates. Scotty Zwang (SunSquabi) will be behind the kit for all shows except for the band’s four-city swing through Florida, which will feature Widespread Panic's Duane Trucks on drums.
The band announced the gameplan in a post on social media, explaining:
“Yesterday we celebrated the amazing journey we’ve had with Kris Myers, and today we share the first glimpse of our future. As we look ahead, UM remains as committed as ever to creating new music and unforgettable memories with you.
“Scotty Zwang will be behind the kit from May 22–25, with our good buddy Duane Trucks stepping in from May 29–June 1. Scotty will return to the helm for the remainder of 2025, and all shows will proceed as planned.
“Playing with Duane is always an honor and our time connecting with Scotty last fall uncovered something special—an intangible spark we’re excited to explore further. We’re energized by what’s to come and can’t wait to share the journey with you.”

Kris Myers resigned from Umphrey's McGee on Tuesday after a 22-year run as the band’s drummer. Myers and UM each issued statements regarding Kris’ departure.
“We collectively felt it was time for me to pursue other elements of my musical creativity that have been calling to me,” Myers wrote.
Umphrey’s McGee resumes their Cruising Altitude 2025 Tour on May 22 with the band’s first of two concerts at The Windjammer in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. The tour extends through a two-night stand September 19 – 20 in Livingston, Montana. UM’s Florida run featuring drummer Duane Trucks begins on May 29 in Pensacola, hits Orlando on May 30, Miami Beach on May 31 and concludes in St. Petersburg on June 1.
Scotty Zwang has a long history in the jam scene. Zwang was Dopapod's drummer from 2013 through 2016. He then co-founded Ghost Light in 2017 and was the drummer for the quartet until they disbanded in 2023. Zwang joined SunSquabi the following year.
Zwang has performed with The New Deal, RAQ and a myriad of additional projects. Zwang was among the drummers who filled in for Myers while he recovered from rotator cuff surgery in 2023, performing the bulk of UM’s first set on September 7, 2023 at The Mish with the band. His most recent Umphrey’s guest appearance came on February 2, 2025, in Huntington, New York.
Duane Trucks also replaced Myers at a series of 2023 shows. Trucks joined Umphrey’s for an August run that included a celebration of JamBase's 25th anniversary as well as three-night stand in Athens, Georgia from November 30 – December 2.
