Full Show Audio: Umphrey’s McGee Busts Out Toto Cover In Kansas City

Chicago jam-rockers Umphrey’s McGee returned to the road on Wednesday night to continue their Summer Tour. The six-piece’s two-set show at The Crossroads KC in Kansas City featured UM’s first cover of a Toto classic in a year and a half.

Umphrey’s came out of the gates with a “Nipple Trix” > “Plunger” > “Slacker” sequence to kick off the show. The first set also included the title track from 2014’s Similar Skin as well as “No Diablo” from the LP. UM’s opening stanza came to a close with classics “Miss Tinkle’s Overture” and “Deeper” plus a cover of “Rosanna.” The band hadn’t performed “Rosanna” since February 4, 2015 – a span of 147 shows. Last night’s “Rosanna” was just the fourth played since 2013.

The evening’s second set started with “Domino Theory” ahead of a “Puppet String” that wouldn’t be concluded until the end of a “2nd Self” > “Puppet String” encore. Umphrey’s also worked “Smell The Mitten,” “The Linear,” “Bridgeless,” “Sociable Jimmy” and “Booth Love” within Wednesday’s second set. Next up for the band is a performance in Peoria, Illinois on Thursday night. A webcast is available via TourGigs.
