Umphrey’s McGee Busts Out ‘Jessica’ In New Haven
On Wednesday night Umphrey’s McGee busted out a cover of The Allman Brothers Band classic “Jessica” at the College Street Music Hall in New Haven, Connecticut for the first time since May 25, 2014 – a span of 159 shows. Videographer MKDevo was on hand and has shared footage of the cover:
“Jessica” was first performed by UM way back in 1998 and was a staple of the band’s early years. In more recent years the ABB cover has become a rare treat as it was shelved between April 18, 2008 and Halloween ’12 with only ten performances since. Wednesday’s show also featured a bust out of “Dr. Feelgood” as the Mötley Crüe cover returned to an UM setlist after 173 shows.
Last night, Umphrey’s McGee’s Winter Tour with TAUK continued at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine. Once again the band dug deep into its cover repertoire and dusted off Blue Öyster Cult’s “E.T.I.” for the first time in 276 shows. The show also saw TAUK’s Issac Teal sit-in on percussion for the “Booth Love” that closed the second set. Tonight, UM and TAUK bring the tour to Lupo’s in Providence.
