Umphrey’s McGee spent the past three nights performing at the outdoor venue Chez Ali in Marrakech, Morocco. The veteran jam sextet broke out their “Bittersweet Haj” mashup on Sunday during the final set of the band’s inaugural “Morockshow” concert vacation event.

Each Morockshow performance featured two UM sets. The band bookended last night’s sets with “Nothing Too Fancy” before returning for a “Puppet String” encore that encompassed a cover of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?”

Umphrey’s “Nothing Too Fancy” opener bled into the beloved “Divisions” to start the Sunday night show. The six-piece then offered “I Don’t Know What I Want” from their latest studio album, 2022’s Asking For A Friend. Next came a take on Wings’ “Live & Let Die” to begin a sequence that also included oldies “Prowler,” “2×2” and “Sweetness.” UM punctuated the first set with a +15-minute “Hurt Bird Bath.”

Guitarist Jake Cinninger fronted fan-favorite “40’s Theme” to get the second set underway. Then, Umphrey’s worked “Escape Goat” into the end of “Divisions,” which gave way to a cover of Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi.” The subsequent “Miss Tinkle’s Overture” preceded a set-closing run connecting “Booth Love,” “Bittersweet Haj” and the conclusion of “Nothing Too Fancy.”

“Bittersweet Haj” is a mashup combining elements of The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” and classic original “Hajimemashite.” Debuted on Halloween 2010, the mashup was played six additional times before last night. The previous performance of “Bittersweet Haj” came on January 29, 2023 — 189 shows prior to the Morockshow finale.
