Many jam fans have dreamed of seeing one of their favorite acts throw out the songbook and play a fully improvised set. Umphrey’s McGee has officially confirmed a January visit to Madison, Wisconsin – as well as eight April dates – and will perform one full set of improv, conceived and executed in real time on January 28 at the Orpheum Theater in Madison. Saxophonist Joshua Redman will be in the house as the band’s special guest for the two-night stand at the Orpheum.
In addition to the January 28 – 29 two-night stand in Madison, Umphrey’s has extended their first tour of 2016 into April with the addition of eight dates. TAUK will open all shows but one (April 6 in Oxford). The April dates include stops in Oxford, Raleigh, New Orleans, Houston, Tulsa, Austin and Dallas.
A pre-sale for tickets to the newly announced shows is set for Wednesday, November 11 at 10 a.m. CT via Umphrey’s Ticketing. The general on-sales follow this Friday, November 13 at 10 a.m. CT.
