Ty Segall Announces New Album ‘First Taste’ & Shares Single

Ty Segall will issue a new studio album entitled First Taste via Drag City on August 2. Segall unveiled “Taste,” the LP’s first single.

Following up his last studio release, 2018’s Freedom’s Goblin, the album will feature 12 tracks that serve as a counterpoint to the more extroverted tone of his last collection. With an emphasis on introversion, the record finds the prolific musician reflecting on his family, the past, and the future. First Taste also features Segall exploring new sonic territories, with instruments like koto, recorder, bouzouki, harmonizer, mandolins and more represented on the album. Segall serves as a drummer across the album, with the rocker contributing drums when they’re heard on the left speaker, while Charles Moothart‘s drumming is projected from the right.
