PHIL LESH PRESENTS BUSY NIGHT
OF MUSIC AT TERRAPIN CROSSROADS

Last night was a busy night at Terrapin Crossroads, where attendees of an event dubbed “Turtle Rock” were treated to a grand total of four sets of music between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. in San Rafael, CA.

Before Bob Weir’s issues popped up, Furthur was supposed to perform at the inaugural Bottle Rock festival on Thursday night. Furthur cancelled leading to last night’s “Turtle Rock” show at bassist Phil Lesh’s venue.

The evening started off with a set from the venue’s house band – The Terrapin Family Band and continued with a special set from a trio consisting of John Kadlecik on fiddle and Neal Casal and Ross James on guitars. The Terrapin All-Stars, featuring guitarist Stu Allen, offered the night’s third set of music which saw the band cover songs such as “Got To Get Better In A Little While” (Derek and the Dominos) and “Dig A Pony” (The Beatles).

Around 8:45 p.m. Phil took the stage along with Kadlecik, Casal, Jeff Chimenti and Joe Russo. The band, which featured four members of Furthur, mixed Grateful Dead classics such as “Stella Blue,” “Mason’s Children” and “Scarlet” > “Fire” with cover selections that included “Strawberry Fields Forever” (The Beatles) and “Love The One You’re With” (Stephen Stills). Terrapin Family Band members Emily Sunderland and Ross James emerged at the beginning of the encore to help out on “West L.A. Fadeaway.” Sunderland came back to sing the “Sugaree” finale.

Here’s the Phil and Friends’ setlist from last night.
