Turnpike Troubadours Raise $175,000 For Texas Panhandle Wildfire Relief Fund
The Smokehouse Creek Fire burned roughly 1,058,482 acres in Northern Texas and areas in the band’s home state of Oklahoma.

Turnpike Troubadours raised $175,000 at a benefit concert for The Texas Panhandle Wildfire Relief Fund. The show took place at Cook’s Garage in Lubbock, Texas on March 28 with support from Red Shahan.
The Smokehouse Creek Fire started on February 26 affecting portions of the Northeastern Texas panhandle as well as areas in Turnpike Troubadours’ home state of Oklahoma. The record-breaking fire fanned by high winds in the region was not contained for over two weeks and burned roughly 1,058,482 acres.

The money raised by Turnpike will benefit The Texas Panhandle Wildfire Relief Fund, aiding recovery efforts for affected farmers and ranchers. The concert in Lubbock saw the band opening with a John Hartford cover, “Long Hot Summer Days.”
Turnpike then offered “Mean Old Sun,” one of four songs they performed from their first album in six years, A Cat In The Rain, which arrived on August 25, 2023. The Americana act also delivered the album’s “Brought Me,” “The Rut” and “Chipping Mill” among older favorites.
Turnpike Troubadours are set to kick off their spring tour today with a performance at the Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Check out the band’s full itinerary with ticket info below.
