Ivan Neville Joins Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue For Fiery Meters Cover In Los Angeles
Watch the tourmates bring New Orleans to the L.A. Greek with a joint performance of “Fire On The Bayou.”

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, JJ Grey & Mofro and Dumpstaphunk teamed up for a triple bill at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre on Sunday night. The concert saw Dumpstaphunk’s Ivan Neville collaborate with headliners Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on a cover of The Meters’ “Fire On The Bayou.”
JJ Grey & Mofro and Dumpstaphunk will support Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on select dates of their Might Not Make It Home Tour this summer. The trek includes many triple bills in addition to other shows where just one of the bands will open for the trombonist and his band.

Sunday was the first show of the recently launched excursion to feature all three acts. Dumpstaphunk kicked off the evening before JJ Grey & Mofro took the stage. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue delivered a 10-song performance to close the concert.
Ivan Neville emerged towards the middle of Shorty & Orleans Avenue’s set to provide a taste of their hometown of New Orleans’ musical heritage. The Meters’ co-founder Art Neville was Ivan’s uncle and the father of Dumpstaphunk guitarist Ian Neville.
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue have performed “Fire On The Bayou” over 20 times, dating back to 2015, as per Setlist.FM statistics. Ivan Neville handled lead vocal duties on the title track from The Meters’ 1975 studio album.
