Trey Anastasio’s LP, Sturgill Simpson, David Bowie, The Avett Brothers & More Earn Grammy Nominations

The nominees for the 59th annual Grammy Awards have been revealed. Among the musicians vying for Grammys will be Trey Anastasio, Sturgill Simpson, David Bowie, The Avett Brothers, Bob Dylan and several others.
Art director Matt Taylor for guitarist Trey Anastasio’s 2015 solo album Paper Wheels was nominated in the Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package category. Country performer Sturgill Simpson’s album A Sailor’s Guide To Earth received nominations for Album Of The Year and Country Album Of The Year. Late legendary recording artist David Bowie earned several nominations off his final album Blackstar including Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Recording Package and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan earned a nomination in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for Fallen Angels, while folk rock act The Avett Brothers were nominated for Best American Roots Performance and Best Americana Album. Other notable nominees include Snarky Puppy, Jack White, Primus, Luther Dickinson, Bon Iver, John Scofield, Alabama Shakes, Bill Frisell and Leon Bridges.
