Trey Anastasio Band Members Join Soulive At Ardmore Music Hall

Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman (trombone) and James Casey (sax) joined Eric Krasno, Neal Evans and Alan Evans of Soulive for the second half of their concert on Friday. The show kicked off a two-night run for Soulive at Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.
Soulive got things underway with a litany of classic originals from the band’s early turn of the century albums beginning with “Steppin” and “So Live” from Turn It Out before segueing into “Uncle Junior” off Get Down and “Shaheed” from Doin’ Something. The band then turned to covers with The Beatles “Eleanor Rigby” — in 2010 Soulive released an entire album of instrumental Beatles covers called Rubber Soulive — before jumping into Jimi Hendrix’s “3rd Stone From The Sun.” Soulive rounded out the covers section with Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Lenny.”
Casey and Cressman then joined the band on “Flurries,” “Up Right,” “PJ’s” and “El Ron.” The set came to a close with “Aladdin” into “Tuesday Night Squad.” All five musicians would reemerge for the encore of “Cannonball.” Listen to the entire show and check out video of “Aladdin” captured by taper Richard Stoler below:
