Over the past few years NPR has brought in a bevy of musical acts from many different genres to perform live at the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen for the Tiny Desk Concert series. Now, NPR is giving all music-makers and creators a chance to play a Tiny Desk Concert with the launch of a new contest. NPR has put together an esteemed panel of ten judges for the contest including Phish frontman Trey Anastasio, who recorded his own Tiny Desk Concert in 2014.
NPR advises potential entrants to create a new video that shows you playing one song you’ve written. The company advises artists to “do it the way you’d perform a Tiny Desk Concert: at a desk.” Then, upload the video to YouTube. An entry form will be available after the contest opens on January 13 with the contest currently slated to end on January 29. The winner will not only get to play a Tiny Desk Concert, but will appear at a taping at NPR’s Ask Me Another and will tour the U.S. with NPR and Lagunitas.
Trey Anastasio is joined on the judges’ panel by Boilen, Robin Hilton, Rita Houston, Stas THEE Boss, Talia Schlanger, Ben Hopkins, Miguel, Anthony Hamilton and BANKS. Head here for more information.
