Treasure Island Music Festival Announces New 2016 Location

The Treasure Island Music Festival is set to be held on San Francisco Bay on October 15 and 16. Organizers of the 10th annual event have announced a new location on the island for this year’s event.

As previously reported, this year’s TIMF is expected to be the last edition held on the island from which it gets its name. The festival is expected to move off the island in 2017 and be held at an unannounced new location in the San Francisco Bay Area. This year’s festival originally was slated to be held on the usual Great Lawn on the west side of the island, but construction forced the event to relocate to a new spot on Treasure Island’s eastern shore. Here’s the message from the organizers:

Construction at the location previously occupied by the festival—the Great Lawn on the west side of the island—is part of the island’s multi-billion-dollar development that has forced producers to relocate this year’s event to a new site on the island’s eastern shore.

The festival will still have the beloved ferris wheel with great views, no overlapping sets, an expanded VIP section and all the same fun of the past years. This year shuttles will be running form both SF and East Bay.
