The Travelin’ McCourys & Jeff Austin Band Announce The Grateful Ball Tour
Following the success of last month’s Grateful Ball that saw The Travelin’ McCourys and the Jeff Austin Band team up in St. Louis for a set of Grateful Dead songs, the two groups will take the format on the road for a batch of shows together this fall. Like the June 11 concert, each night of the Grateful Ball Tour will consist of a full set from both groups, followed by a show-closing collaborative set by both bands playing the music of the Dead.
The Grateful Ball Tour will begin on October 20 at the State Theatre in State College, Pennsylvania. From there the two bands will head to Pittsburgh for a show the next night at the Rex Theater, followed by a show on October 22 at Ardmore’s Music Hall. The tour then continues on October 23 at Flying Monkey Performance Center in Plymouth, New Hampshire and at Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, Maryland on October 24. A return to Pennsylvania for a night at Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg on October 25 comes before the tour closer at The Hamilton Live in Washington D.C. on October 26.
For a preview of what might be played on tour this fall, here’s The Travelin’ McCourys set and the collaborative Grateful Dead set from Urban Chestnut Brewing in St, Louis last month featuring such Dead favorites as “Cumberland Blues,” “Althea,” “Loser,” “Brown Eyed Women” and others thanks to taper by goodcooker:
