Towa Bird Releases Whimsical ‘Deep Cut’ Video

Called “Gen Z’s Joan Jett” by Vogue, Towa Bird shared the music video for “Deep Cut.” The track appears on Towa Bird’s new album, American Hero.

American Hero arrived on June 28 via Interscope. Towa Bird worked with producers Alexander 23 (Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae), Luke Niccoli (Carly Rae Jepsen, Gwen Stefani), and Thomas Powers of The Naked And Famous on the record.

“These songs are me being completely honest about queer love and all its essence; there’s a lot of yearning and vulnerability and dealing with difficult emotions,” Towa said of American Hero. “I grew up listening to so many male-gazey love songs, and it was important to put something out into the world that felt like the music I wanted for myself when I was a kid.”

The aforementioned Thomas Powers produced “Deep Cut.” Haley Appell (Remi Wolf, Blu DeTiger, Tyler, the Creator) directed the new music video.

“Powered by driving punk-pop and nonchalant vocals, ‘Deep Cut’ is a scathing kiss-off that begs to be blasted from car windows,” press materials for the video noted.
