The Bright Eyes mastermind will release a solo effort, Upside Down Mountain, via Nonesuch on May 20. Upside Down Mountain was produced by Jonathan Wilson, who “who adds jammy, Garcia-ish flourishes throughout the album” according to Rolling Stone. Oberst has shared the Afrobeat-tinged “Hundreds Of Ways” to give fans a taste of the new LP:
On May 8 Oberst will embark on a month-long tour in which he’ll be backed by Dawes, who will also open each show. Dawes backed Oberst at the Newport Folk Festival in 2012, so we’re hoping we’ll see a reprise of the pairing at this year’s Newport Folk.
