Tool continued their winter tour at Save Mart Center in Fresno, California on Wednesday night. The legendary metal band fit a couple of rarities toward the beginning of their set.
Tool kicked things off with “Fear Inoculum” from their 2019 album of the same name, their first LP in nearly 15 years. The title tracks kept rolling with the Grammy-winning “Ænema” from their 1996 critically acclaimed LP. Then the band dusted off “Eon Blue Apocalypse” and “The Patient” from their 2001 album Lateralus for the first time since 2011. “Eon Blue Apocalypse” is an instrumental intro of sorts for “The Patient.” The band continued with more Lateralus material in “Parabol” and “Parabola” before returning to Fear Inoculum with “Pneuma” to complete the “P” trifecta. According to Setlist.FM, the band prefaced the song by singing happy birthday to guitarist Adam Jones .

Up next, more Lateralus in “Schism” ahead of “Jambi” from Tool’s last album, 2006’s 10,000 Days. After a shortened version of the instrumental “Merkaba,” Tool kept going with “Vicarious” and “Swamp Song” before closing out the set with “Forty Six & 2.” The band retook the stage for a three-song encore getting underway with two Fear Inoculum tracks, “Chocolate Chip Trip” and “Invincible,” followed by the Ænema classic “Stinkfist” to close out the evening.
