Representatives for Tom Petty have confirmed his death Monday night. He was 66.

Legendary rocker Tom Petty was rushed to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital after he was found unconscious on Sunday night, according to a report from TMZ. The website’s sources allegedly told TMZ that Petty was put on life support but later updated, “We’re told after Petty got to the hospital he had no brain activity and a decision was made to pull life support.”

While Petty’s condition is currently unknown, TMZ’s report states he was “critical from the moment he was found.” Law enforcement sources purportedly told TMZ the Gainesville, Florida native was not breathing and in full cardiac arrest. EMTs were dispatched to the rocker’s Malibu home and were able to retrieve a pulse. TMZ reached out to Petty’s camp and “they are clearly upset but not talking.”

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers closed out an extensive 40th anniversary tour at the Hollywood Bowl on September 25. Our thoughts are with Tom Petty on a quick recovery.
