Tom Morello Joins Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band For Marathon New Jersey Show

Last night Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band held the second of three shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey delivering a nearly four-hour long performance. Special guest guitarist Tom Morello sat-in at various points during the Boss’ purported longest concert ever staged in the United States (breaking a record set Tuesday at the stadium).

Like the show on Tuesday, Springsteen and the band were joined by a string section for the show opening “New York City Serenade.” A few songs later Bruce dedicated “My City Of Ruins” to the people affected by a recent earthquake in Italy. Guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Prophets Of Rage first emerged mid-way into the main set for a strings-augmented rendition of “Death to My Hometown.” The former temporary E Street Band member who toured with the group in 2013 came back later to sit-in on “American Skin (41 Shots)” and “The Ghost of Tom Joad.”

The show also saw a 3-year-old girl singing on stage during “Waitin’ On A Sunny Day,” the strings join in on “Jack Of All Trades” and a marriage proposal while the band played the show closing “Jersey Girl.” Boasting a total of 33 songs and reportedly running one minute shy of four hours, the concert reportedly only trails a July 31, 2012 show in Helsinki, Finland for the lengthiest of the Boss’ career.

MetLife Stadium will host one more home state Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band show on Tuesday, August 30, following a show at United Center in Chicago Sunday night. View video highlights of the record-breaking show below:
