Acclaimed singer-songwriter Todd Snider continues to preview his forthcoming First Agnostic Church of Hope And Wonder with new single “Turn Me Loose (I’ll Never Be The Same)” and an accompanying video. First Agnostic Church of Hope And Wonder is due out via Aimless Records/Thirty Tigers on April 23.

“Turn Me Loose (I’ll Never Be The Same)” was birthed from portions of Snider’s live shows where he shares memories of his multi-decade friendship with mentor and musical hero Jerry Jeff Walker, who sadly died last October. Within the song, Todd tells the story of a phone call he had with Walker in which the pair talked about the meaning of the world.

Snider is joined by Midland drummer Robbie Crowell and multi-instrumentalist Tchad Blake on his new album, which takes its name from Todd’s weekly livestream series. The trio focus on “fastback” rhythms of the 60s and 70s, a style Todd explained as “funk in back and busking up front.” First Agnostic Church of Hope And Wonder also includes tributes to John Prine, Jeff Austin and Col. Bruce Hampton.
