Widespread Panic, Wilco & More Aboard For Tipitina’s Livestream Benefit
The lineup for Save Tip’s, a livestream special benefit held to raise funds for historic New Orleans venue Tipitina’s, has been revealed. Widespread Panic, Wilco, Willie Nelson and Billy Strings are just a few of the acts that will be featured in Save Tip’s, which premieres via Tipitinas.com this Saturday, November 14 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
Venue owners, Galactic, will also take part in the special with a performance featuring vocalist Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph. “In late 2018, our band took a huge leap of faith to purchase Tipitina’s,” said Galactic bassist and Tipitina’s co-owner Robert Mercurio in a statement. “It was not because we wanted to own a venue, it was because we had a chance to save our favorite one in the world. But now we could really use some help to keep saving this national treasure. So in true New Orleans fashion we decided to throw a hell of a party to celebrate this musical institution.”
Tipitina’s is struggling during the pandemic shutdown and the hope is that funds raised will help keep the NOLA institution going through this prolonged closure. Save Tip’s is a +three-hour event that will include both performances and backstage footage.
Never-before-released vintage performances featuring late artists Professor Longhair, Fats Domino and Dr. John are also part of a lineup that includes Jon Batiste & Stay Human with Trombone Shorty, Dinosaur Jr., Les Claypool’s Flying Frog Brigade, The Revivalists and many more. Additionally, Save Tip’s will contain tributes to Art Neville, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint. Check out the full lineup below:
While the livestream special is free, fans are urged to donate to the club here or by texting “SAVETIPS” to 24365. Tipitina’s teamed with Fandiem to give supporters a chance to win such prizes as the Ultimate NOLA Flyaway, access to Tipitina’s for life and a signed trombone from Trombone Shorty.
