Thundercat Confirms 1st Album In 6 Years ‘Distracted’ & Shares Single Featuring Lil Yachty
The LP also boasts guest spots from A$AP Rocky, Tame Impala and an unreleased collaboration with the late Mac Miller.

Thundercat (Stephen Bruner) confirmed his first album in six years, Distracted, due out on April 3 through Brainfeeder. Previewing the record is a collaboration with Lil Yachty, “I Did This To Myself.”
Distracted also boasts guest spots from A$AP Rocky, WILLOW, Tame Impala, Channel Tres and a previously unreleased collaboration with the late Mac Miller. Thundercat teamed with superstar producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Paul McCartney, Beyoncé) on Distracted with additional production from Flying Lotus, Kenny Beats and The Lemon Twigs.
The follow up to 2020’s It Is What It Is, Distracted continues Thundercat’s look at socialization in a social media world as attention spans keep getting shorter while the future we now live in isn’t quite what we were promised. Thundercat, however, examines both sides of the “distracted” coin.
“Sometimes you need to be distracted to focus in a different way,” he stated.
On the record Bruner added: “Just enjoy it and have fun and just know that the struggle is real and changes shape, but just to keep pushing forward.”
The first taste of Distracted comes in the form of “I Did This To Myself” featuring Lil Yachty. Press materials further detailed the track:
“Hey, what are you doing tonight?” so opens the groovy “I Did This To Myself (feat. Lil Yachty)”; it’s a question that falls on the deaf ears of a very busy baddie. She likes crystals, has “a big ‘ole ass,” posts a lot on the ‘Gram, and has absolutely no time for either Thunder or Yachty despite their pleas and protests to treat them better. As much as they’d like things to be different, both artists are well aware that they’ve placed themselves in this predicament.
Along with Yachty, “I Did This To Myself” features Thundercat’s signature bass wizardry. Listen below:
