Jack White and Led Zeppelin crossed paths last weekend when Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant joined White on stage in Argentina to perform “The Lemon Song.” White’s connection with Led Zeppelin runs deep, having appeared in the 2008 documentary film, It Might Get Loud, alongside Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and U2’s The Edge. Directed by Davis Guggenheim, the movie explored the differences and similarities between the three guitarists’ styles and development with their shared instrument.

Three clips from the film are featured below for today’s Throwback Thursday. The first clip features Page alone with his Gibson Les Paul plugged into an amp strumming “Ramble On” and discussing advancements in recording techniques.
The second excerpt from It Might Get Loud is taken from the summit that occurs at the end of film where the three featured guitarists gathered together to jam. In this segment Page shows White and The Edge how he developed the signature riff that became “Kashmir” with the latter two axemen trading licks with Page.
The last video features the three guitarists rocking the Zeppelin version of “In My Time of Dying.” The impressive jam lives up to the film’s title and includes White bending notes while playing a nasty slide guitar.
