Throwback Thursday | David Byrne Guests With Paul Simon

NYC native Paul Simon ended the first North American leg of his 2011 tour in support of So Beautiful or So What with a hometown show at Webster Hall. Simon took an already amazing show at the 1,500-capacity venue to the next level when he brought out David Byrne for a pair of songs to start the evening’s second encore.

The former Talking Heads front man emerged and led Simon and his band through a rollicking take on “Road To Nowhere” and then stuck around to duet with Paul on “You Can Call Me Al.” As you can imagine, the crowd went absolutely bonkers for this summit of two of NYC’s favorite musicians.

Paul Simon went on to release a live CD/DVD of his Webster Hall performance, but unfortunately Byrne’s guest appearance didn’t make the cut. Thankfully, we’ll always have fan-shot footage of both songs thanks to concertaholicshirt:
