Throwback Thursday | Black Crowes At Levon Helm Studios

Back in 2009, The Black Crowes decided to use Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York to record a new album. The band wound up performing a number of times in front of a small audience assembled in Levon’s barn and the resulting material was released on the 2009 double album Before the Frost…Until the Freeze.

Not only did The Crowes issue the double album, they also put out a DVD called Cabin Fever documenting the recording of Before the Frost…Until the Freeze. Cabin Fever featured 11 complete songs (and two more bonus tunes), one of which was the band’s stunning version of “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'” by The Velvet Underground. Rich Robinson’s voice fits the cover oh so perfectly. Take a look:
