The Word To Reunite For Two Shows Without Chew

Supergroup The Word was formed in the early ’00s by keyboardist John Medeski, pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph and Luther Dickinson, Cody Dickinson and Chris Chew of the North Mississippi Allstars to pay homage to gospel music and the Sacred Steel tradition. The group has toured sporadically ever since, with their last appearances taking place at Mountain Jam and Bonnaroo in 2012. Next up for The Word will be a pair of visits to venues owned by Relix/Jambands.com publisher Peter Shapiro -Brooklyn Bowl on February 11 and The Capitol Theatre on February 12.

As per Jambands.com’s announcement, bassist Chris Chew will not take part in February’s shows. Many NMAS fans have been saddened by Chew’s disappearance from the band and we’re disappointed to see he won’t be performing with The Word. We are excited to see guitarist Eric Krasno will join The Word at The Cap.

Tickets for the Capitol Theatre show in Port Chester, NY go on sale January 17 at noon, while Brooklyn Bowl ducats will be available the following day at noon.
