The music of The Band lives on through The Weight who have extended Fall Tour through a New Year’s Day visit to Santa Cruz including a New Year’s Eve performance at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California. The five-piece ensemble, which carries on where The Band left off, features Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante from The Band, Brian Mitchell and Byron Isaacs of the Levon Helm Band and Marty Grebb, who worked with Rick Danko and Richard Manuel of The Band
The Weight has a busy fall planned before they end the year in the Bay Area. First up for the group is a series of three shows in Virginia Friday through Sunday. In November, The Weight has shows set for Maryland, Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey. Then, in December, The Weight visits Massachusetts and New Hampshire early in the month before a December 30th show at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and the New Year’s Eve performance at Sweetwater. Fans in Santa Cruz can catch the five- piece at The Catalyst on New Year’s Day.
