The Strokes kicked off their 2019 tour last night at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Monday’s concert was the band’s first show since 2017 and included the debut of a new original and an Erasure cover as well as plenty of rarities and classics.
“Heart In A Cage” opened last night’s show and was followed by “You Only Live Once” and the first “Ize Of The World” since 2006 as per Setlist.FM. “The Modern Age” came next along with the return of “Happy Ending” after five years on the shelf. “Hard To Explain” then led into the evening’s lone original debut, a new tune titled “The Adults Are Talking.”
After “One Way Trigger” came a series of rarities. “Meet Me In The Bathroom” and “I Can’t Win” were performed for the first time since 2011, while “On The Other Side” and “The Way It Is” returned after 13 years on the shelf. Next, The Strokes treated fans to their debut cover of Erasure’s “A Little Respect.” A run of “What Ever Happened?,” “12:51,” “Automatic Stop,” “Soma” and “Last Nite” ended the set. Classics “Is This It” and “Someday” were the evening’s encore.
