The String Cheese Incident brought their first tour of 2022 to Salvage Station in Asheville, North Carolina over the weekend for concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Papadosio keyboardist Sam Brouse helped SCI end Saturday’s show by augmenting the band for their “Rivertrance” encore.
After opening the run with a concert on Friday that included the debut live performance of “Dragonfly,” a song featured on their recently released Into The Blue EP, Cheese went with Kyle Hollingsworth‘s “Outside And Inside” to get Saturday’s show underway. The classic “Eye Know Why” came next ahead of the recently debuted Jason Hann number “Short Shack Willie” and the Bill Nershi-penned oldie “The Road Home.” Cheese wrapped Saturday’s first set with “Sweet Spot” and a pairing of “Into The Blue” and “Colorado Bluebird Sky.”

The String Cheese Incident kicked off Saturday’s second set with their 2019 single, “All We Got.” Next up was a version of fan favorite “Rhythm Of The Road” that led into a cover of Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody).” Bassist Keith Moseley‘s “Gone Crooked” followed before SCI ended the frame with a run of live staples “Colliding,” “Texas” and “Shine.”
The sextet returned to the stage with Sam Brouse in tow for the evening’s “Rivertrance” encore. Brouse shared the keyboard rig with Kyle Hollingsworth and took a powerful piano solo during the 15-minute “Rivertrance.” The brief tour concludes on Tuesday and Wednesday in Wilmington, North Carolina.
