The String Cheese Incident Plays Acoustic Encore In Boston
By Scott Bernstein Oct 23, 2015 • 7:30 am PDT
On Thursday night The String Cheese Incident‘s Fall Tour continued at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. SCI was joined by a local legend and ended the show with a three- song acoustic encore.
The band kicked off the show with “Can’t Wait Another Day” and included tour debuts of “Boo Boo’s Pik-a-nik,” “Water” and “Pack It Up” within the first set. “You’ve Got The World,” an original debuted last year, started the second set. Then, SCI welcomed guitarist Dave “Fuze” Fiuczynski of Screaming Headless Torsos out for a take on John Coltrane’s “Impressions.” Later in the set the Colorado jam act offered the tour debut cover of Peter Rowan’s “Sweet Melinda.”
When the band came back out for the encore, they utilized acoustic instruments with Keith Moseley on upright bass and Jason Hann as well as Michael Travis on hand drums. SCI started the acoustic encore with a cover of The Beatles’ “I’ve Just Seen A Face,” which they hadn’t performed since June 14, 2014 at the Huck Finn Festival. The bust outs kept coming with “Lester Had A Coconut” returning for the first time since February 22, 2014 and the 2015 debut of “Lonesome Road.”
The String Cheese Incident visits the Theater at Madison Square Garden in NYC tonight and tomorrow.
