The String Cheese Incident & GAUDI Unveil Dub Version Of Bob Marley Cover ‘Crisis’

Members of The String Cheese Incident, Trey Anastasio Band, Snarky Puppy and more teamed up with legendary dub producer Gaudi for a Bob Marley cover. The collaboration offered up a dub remix of Marley’s “Crisis.”
The journey for the collab began when SCI’s Michael Kang and Snarky Puppy/Ghost Note drummer “Robert “Sput” Searight began working on a cover of Bob Marley’s “Crisis” to honor COVID-19 frontline responders. Cheese percussionist Jason Hann helmed the quarantine-style video but his plans changed when he connected with GAUDI.

Hann wrote about the experience in the notes accompanying the video:
I was in touch with legendary dub producer, GAUDI (Steel Pulse, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mad Professor, Horace Andy, Adrien Sherwood, The Orb, Sizzla, Youth) and trying to figure out how we could collaborate on something during the Summer. I told him about this video I was working on and he was down for doing a dub remix version of it.
I was super excited about redoing the video to reflect his dubbed out version – the delays, instruments dropping in and out, showing GAUDI working the recording console, etc. I finally finished my video edit yesterday and wanted to get this out to y’all.
The video features Members of SCI, TAB trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick, Snarky Puppy’s Searight and guitarist Mark Lettieri, bassist MonoNeon, Dave Matthews Band horn player Dave Coffin and keyboardists Nigel Hall of Lettuce and Jeff Chimenti of Dead & Company.
